Edwardian Art Nouveau Inlaid Armchair
REF: TSP1060 / LA349435
A very decorative and elegant Art Nouveau armchair in mahogany and dating to the Edwardian period (c. 1910). The padded arms are supported by pierced side splats featuring stylised floral motifs inlaid in copper, satinwood and boxwood. The sprung seat is raised on square tapering forelegs ending in brass Cope's castors and out swept back legs also terminating in brass castors. The armchair is traditionally re-upholstered from the frame by The Sitting Place. The chenille type Tiverton fabric by iLiv (sand colour) with colour coordinated trimming and nail detailing beautifully complements this Art Nouveau armchair, which would make a lovely and comfortable addition to a lounge setting. Table and accessories are for display purposes only.
The Sitting Place has clarified that the Edwardian Art Nouveau Inlaid Armchair (LA349435) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1910
Good original condition, various scuffs commensurate with past use and age, one side splat has minor hairline splitting in two small areas (one repaired, the other too small), which does not undermine the stability of the splat, the other splat has some minor rubbing to the copper (see photos), very tiny old chipped part on lower back seat rail.
