Edwardian Diamond & Pearl Foliate Drop Earrings in Silver with Gold Fittings

A most elegant pair of Edwardian diamond and pearl drop earrings, dating to the early 20th Century (circa 1910). Finely crafted, these refined earrings capture the lightness and romance so characteristic of the Edwardian period. Each earring is set with a graceful foliate motif composed of old cut diamonds, the principal stones measuring approximately 2.5mm (six stones), accented by two diamonds of approximately 2mm and two of approximately 1mm. The diamonds are mounted to the front in silver, with the reverse of the earrings also in silver — a traditional Edwardian technique used to enhance the natural brilliance of diamonds before the widespread use of white gold. Suspended below is a luminous natural pearl of soft ivory tone, measuring approximately 5mm, adding gentle movement and timeless elegance. The diamonds have a combined estimated weight of approximately 0.50 carats, assessed as colour H with VS1 clarity. The earrings measure 2.6cm (1 inch) in total drop from the top of the post and weigh a combined 2 grams. They are fitted with later 9ct gold ball posts and butterfly fittings for pierced ears.
