Edwardian Silver Trinket Box with Purple Silk Liner

Here we have a charming Edwardian silver ring or trinket box, made by the very skilled workforce of the respected Charles S Green & Co. Unlike many similar trinket boxes, this example comes with a single piece of silver used to form the container and a second that forms the lid. Not only does this make the box more robust, it also means it is very close to airtight and as a consequence reduces the oxidisation of silver within the container. However, as a result of the increased cost of production the design found little favour and was discontinued for almost 40 years when new tooling made production costs competitive.
