Edwardian Toi et Moi Old Cut Diamond Ring in 18ct Gold & Platinum A gorgeous Edwardian Toi et Moi diamond ring, beautifully made in 18 carat yellow gold and platinum and dating to the beginning of the 20th century. At its centre are two particularly fine old cut diamonds, arranged in the wonderfully romantic Toi et Moi – “You and Me” – crossover design. Antique old cut diamonds have a character quite unlike their modern counterparts, with their individual proportions and larger facets producing a wonderfully lively play of light. Both principal diamonds are exceptionally bright and clear and display tremendous fire and sparkle. The two stones are held in elegant platinum settings and sit between beautifully swept asymmetric shoulders. Each shoulder is set with three further small diamonds, framed by delicate millegrain detailing characteristic of fine Edwardian jewellery. The contrast between the warm 18ct yellow gold shank and the cool platinum diamond settings is particularly effective, allowing the diamonds to appear wonderfully bright. It is an elegant and feminine design which looks especially attractive on the hand.
