Description
Early George III period (c.1760), elm country chest of drawers. This solid elm chest of drawers, with handsomely figured timbers throughout and attractive aged patina. The rectangular shaped top with thumb moulded edge. Bank of cock-beaded edged drawers, with brass double swan neck brass handles, brass escutcheons, locks and key. Drawers configured with two small side-by-side drawers, over three full width drawers, all graduated in height. Moulded base and raised on bracket feet. Solid elm carcus with pine drawer linings. A very well presented and rare chest of drawers. Only very few elm examples exist of this age, and even fewer in this condition and of this standard. In very good working condition, serviced, thoughtfully cleaned and waxed, now very much ready for use.
