Embroidery French Battle Scene 19th Century

This is a good 19th Century wool-work embroidery picture depicting a French battle scene during the Napoleonic wars with an officer holding the Tri-color and advancing into a town across a fortified bridge. The tapestry is in excellent condition retaining good strength of colour and is embroidered with fine detail. This is in what appears to be its original gilt frame with a sponge effect gilt mount. Provenance: From the residual contents of Scorborough Lodge from the Estate of Stephen Thornley-Wilson. The embroidery measures 45cm by 40cm overall including the frame
