Fine 18th Century Mahogany Longcase Clock
REF: LA74741
Sold
Description
A handsome 18th Cent longcase clock by Moore of Ipswich, Suffolk. There are several makers with this name all related to the well known maker, Thomas Moore. This is probably by Edward Moore who worked there from 1762 to 1788.
The case is in lovely original condition and a beautiful colour. It is in nicely figured mahogany, the trunk door being particularly attractive. It stands on a double plinth base. The hood has nice bold columns and has a decorative fretwork panel to the top. The trunk door has a working lock and key.
The good quality 5 pillar movement strikes the hours on a bell and has subsidiary seconds and date dials. The movement is in good condition, keeping good time and is complete with all brass pendulum, brass cased weights and winding key.
This is a particularly attractive clock of good compact size.
