Fine 8 Day Longcase Clock - Stunning, Torquay Maker

Clockwise is delighted to present another fine eight day longcase clock having had full restorations performed to the case, dial and movement. Dating from 1863 and in stunning condition, standing 84 inches tall, the mahogany and oak crossbanded case is surmounted by a hood with swan neck pediment with original paterae and a brass ball and spire finial. Reeded pillars with brass capitals to top and bottom flank the hood door which has a substantial original brass knob and a waved pattern to the glass surround. The original hood door lock is present on the inside. The trunk has chamfered edges flanking the trunk door with working lock and key and the base stands on original bracket feet. The twelve inch square painted dial is signed 'William Cawdle, Torquay' and is in gorgeous condition featuring religious buildings to the four corners and a seconds dial with working calendar window below. The three matching hands are also original. The four pillar, rack-striking anchor escapement movement has been fully refurbished with new lines provided and the clock strikes the full hours on a beautifully mellow bell. The weights are an original pair and the clock benefits from my three year guarantee; this clock comes complete with a crank key. This clock really is a beautiful piece of furniture and being a square dial it is less dominating than arched dial examples and therefore easier to home.
