This is a fine example of a Victorian Aesthetic movement brass inkwell. The lid with stylised sea monster finial. Very well cast, finished and detailed
The manufacturer is most likely to be James Cartland and sons of Birmingham, as the lid is identical to a pattern of their Make.
The inkwell has a pottery insert liner.
