A fine late 17th century Italian silver and gilt brass communion chalice, heavily decorated with winged cherub masks and foliage. Having a solid silver cup and gilt brass melon shaped stem decorated with grape vines, wheat sheafs and cherubs with the highly shaped base of the chalice decorated with acanthus leaves portrait roundels and cherubs with hammer and pincer symbols. The chalice has age related ware to the gilding and marks to the silver cup but overall is in excellent condition.
