Fine Pair of 16th Century Romayne Panels

A fine pair of 16th century French Romayne type oak panels, depicting male and female portrait busts and having a boarder similar to that of a cartouche, with rolling foliage at the top and bottom with scallop shells opposite sides of the busts. Both panels are unwaxed and untouched having their natural patina. The male portrait panel is in good condition having some minor losses and age related ware and old wood worm. The female portrait panels has damage and losses to the bottom of the panel along with some splitting and minor losses around the edges. The panels are excellent examples of 16th century french renaissance carving.
