Description
A fine set of four late 17th - early 18th century walnut high back dining chairs.
The chairs are of outstanding quality and are profusely carved throughout, having C-scroll designs with candy twist supports and stretchers adjoined to hairy paw feet.
The chairs have caned backs and needle work seats, and originally the seats would have been caned to match the backs but these have since been altered long ago.
There have been some minor restorations to the chairs which is to be expected with walnut of this age. The needle work seats are in relatively good country house condition however some of the webbing underneath needs replacing and there are a couple of areas where the braid trim has come loose. The seats can be used as they are or can be reupholstered.
Overall these are fantastic chairs and are perfect for the quintessential English country house.
