Description
18th Century (1780-1785) Worcester porcelain fluted tea cup and saucer with scalloped rims and ear shaped handle. Painted with a variation of the "Earl of Dalhousie" pattern with bright floral sprays instead of fruit, alternating with butterflies and bugs and central landscapes framed with black and turquoise enamel. Under-glaze blue borders with gilt friezes and dentil rims. Crescent marks.
measurements
The cup measures 8.6cm (3 3/8") rim to rim and 4.7cm (1 7/8") high and the saucer measures 13.7cm (5 3/8") wide.

The Fancy Fox has clarified that the First Period Worcester Porcelain Fluted Dalhousie Cup & Saucer c.1780 (LA492589) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1780
condition
In excellent condition: a couple of small scuffs to the saucer foot rim but with no other damage, repair or restoration and minimal handling wear, just very slight wear to the enamel of the fruit on the raised flutes of the saucer. Three very small firing faults to the saucer rim where some kiln dust has blown out the gilding and some kiln dust spotting inside the base of the cup.
