Folk Art 'Marriage' Shelfrack From Provence

Pretty traditional shelf-rack carved in walnut with heart and leaf symbols, very typical of the Provence region in south eastern France. The rack which was made to hold bread asnd cakes, has a pediment and 'apron' and was made to be hung on a wall . A sympathetic vernacular piece that was traditionally carved for a bride or given for a marriage,- viz the carved Heart on the pediment. From Provence, Southern France.
