Description
This is a French four glass mantel clock of larger proportions. An enamel dial with 'moon' hands, signed 'Black Starr and Frost'. A brass case with bevelled glass panels. A mercury compensating pendulum. An 8-day duration mechanism by stamped 'Black Starr and Frost' striking the 1/2 hours and hours on a gong. Black Starr and Frost are the oldest continually operating jewellers in the USA, this clock was most likely imported from France for sale in their New York store.
