Framed Porcelain Plaque of The Duchess of Devonshire

A pretty late 19th century porcelain PLAQUE which depicts the famous 18th century beauty, the Duchess of Devonshire. Probably Continental, and contained in its original ebonised frame with inner gilded slip frame, this delightful plaque is signed by the artist: Wagner in the lower right corner. Size of plaque: 9 x 7.25 ins (23 x 18.5cms). *Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire (1757-1806) was an English socialite; political activist; author and style icon. The Late Diana, Princess of Wales was a descendant, and their lives, centuries apart, have been compared in tragedy. c.1880
