Unique, framed hand needlework sampler, from the early Victorian period.* *Early/mid 19th Century needlework samplers are pieces of embroidered fabric that were used as practise and educational exercises for children, (especially girls). To help showcase the young embroiderers dexterity and proficiency, the samplers often included alphabets, numbers, and religious verses, and were often signed and dated, such as this fine example. Today, they are highly collectable items of art, each one being truly exclusive and unique.
