Piccione has clarified that the French Louis Philippe Period Commode c.1830-1840 (LA228316) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1830-1840
Condition: This commode is unrestored The condition proves sound overall. The drawers glide ok the bases could do support due to shrinkage, the whole piece sturdy and in original order. The feet are original, whilst the recessed escutcheons are original they all have some damage The key is original works the lock for the top drawer and acts as the pull for the remaining drawers. There is some old sporadic woodworm to the flanks, back-boards and feet which have been treated as a precaution and it has not proven to be effecting the pieces stability or much of its aesthetic. Whilst piece retains its dark rosewood colour it is flat without any shine The marble top is without fault
