French Renaissance Carved High Back Bench Settle

Offering for sale this wonderful and rare carved solid oak settle sourced recently from Mayenne France. The imposing back and seat panels boast intricate carved floral details. The hinged seat lifts up to reveal a fair sized storage area, perfect for your shoes and boots. Original patination and pegged construction. In terms of condition it looks amazing, we have cleaned, waxed and polished the bench sympathetically to preserve the beautiful old timeworn patina. On close inspection you will find light marks, surface scratches, old indentations and age splits. We found a very small trace of old wood worm but this has been thoroughly treated again out of caution in the workshop. You won’t be disappointed with this amazing settle, it looks fantastic.
