Fully Hallmarked Antique Gold Locket Necklace

A superbly crafted fully hallmarked gold deep bodied shield shaped locket which is suspended from an elegant 18 inch 9ct gold necklace. The shield symbolises the desire to protect. Both sides are ornamented with acanthus leaves which have used to convey the desire for longevity since antiquity. A shield shaped cartouche graces the anterior surface. This antique was assayed (tested for gold purity) at Birmingham Assay Office. The date letter and maker's mark are not clear enough to read. The interior case contains beautiful gold moire linings which ensure ease of attachment for all photographs. One of the original hallmarked gold frames is present in the left compartment which is also fitted with a clear portrait protector. The image showing the photograph compartment on the left has a light patch which is only the reflection of the studio lights on the clear portrait protector. The hinge and catch work perfectly.
