Description
This is a fabulous 18th Century George I (c.1720) burr elm chest of drawers with stunning colour and patina and stunning choice of the burr elm to the drawer fronts. The top and sides veneered in walnut that has interesting swirls in the grain, finishing with a good deep cross banding around the top and sides. Running around the drawers and plinth you have the end grain walnut mouldings; this gives the chest an incredible uplift. Having the sectional end grain moulding shows the expertise of the cabinetmaker, who took the desired time to make this to a superior standard.
