George III Oak 8 Day Longcase Clock
A lovely all original longcase clock of nice small size. It is by William Ray of Sudbury, Suffolk. He is listed as working there in the second half of the 18th Century. The case is in oak, it is in good unrestored condition, has retained its original finish and is a lovely colour. The 5 pillar, 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a most attractive brass and silvered dial. It has a subsidiary seconds dial and working date indicator.
Cross Antiques has clarified that the George III Oak 8 Day Longcase Clock (LA74750) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being George III
The movement and dial are in excellent condition, the movement has been serviced and the dial restored. All the functions are working and it is keeping good time.
