George III Red Lacquer Longcase Clock
This is a very decorative 18th Century longcase clock signed Smith, Canterbury. This is probably Benjamin Smith who worked in Canterbury from 1768. The case and movement are 18th Cen but the lacquer decoration is later but still very decorative. The 8 day, five pillar movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a very smart engraved silvered dial. It has a subsidiary seconds dial and working date indicator. The case is in good condition but does have a latter plinth to the base and as previously stated has been later decorated. The clock is in good working order and keeping good time.
