Description
An unusual and exceptional quality George IV period chiffonier in spectacularly grained rosewood. It features a raised superstructure to the rear with mirror, an architectural pediment, scroll and leaf carving, and most unusually a display cabinet compartment secured by hidden catches. The main cabinet section has a single full-width mahogany lined drawer to the frieze (with brass patent lock stamped ‘GR’ for ‘George Rex’), above a pull-out slide, above two doors with mirror panels to the fronts, flanked by turned tapering columns, and opening to reveal an interior shelf. Raised on turned and fluted ball feet.
