Offered for sale is a very pretty tea cup, saucer and tea plate by George Jones & Sons, Crescent Ware in the "June Time" pattern with sprays of vibrant flowers on a pristine white ground. In 1865 George Jones built the Trent Potteries adjoining the Newcastle-under-Lyme Canal and the Newcastle-Uttoxeter Road. By 1873 the two eldest sons, Frank Ralph Jones and George Henry Jones became partners in the business which was renamed George Jones & Sons. 'Crescent' was registered as a trademark for the new company. In 1907 the works were renamed as the Crescent Potteries. The back stamp would therefore date this item to between 1891 & 1907. The teacup measures 67mm in height with a diameter of 90mm. The saucer measures 135mm in diameter and the tea plate 180mm.
Verdi Art & Antiques has clarified that the George Jones & Sons, Crescent Ware, June Time Pattern Trio. (LA338942) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1891-1907
