Description
A rare set of four arts and crafts chairs . George Walton . sold as a set of four . all four chairs are identical sold as a set of four . currently this is the only set available anywhere . an academic rarity . one similar example of this chair can be found with the peg in the back in a horizontal position instead of a vertical position on these chairs . more photos available upon request . please see last image of an almost identical chair advertised as being by George Walton and a hefty price tag of £2000. based on the one advertised as George Walton circa 1900-1910 one can see the similarities ; Please note that Rupert Griffiths also made items of furniture of a similar nature . I am not suggesting George Walton ; just stating that one has been attributed to him .

declaration

artsncraftsfurniture has clarified that the George Walton Chair (LA362836) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1900

condition

This chair still retains remnants of the original chair covering with some of the old brass upholstery stud/pins . The seat can be glued and clamped back as the two pieces of wood have pulled apart over the years . The back of the back leg and bottom of the two front legs show a loss of the original stain/polish . The back peg is in position and a small piece of the back stretcher that hold this peg in place is missing . General marks/ signs of use / etc commensurate with age ; to be expected . Structurally sound . The work required is within the skill level of any competent restorer . The previous owner made cushion style seats covers screwed from underneath .On this chair there are no screw holes as they never got to finish off his/her project ; fortunately .
