Description
This is a late 18th century (c.1780) Georgian mahogany gentleman's washstand. The washstand stands on square legs with a chamfered internal edge in the Georgian manner. The legs terminate with brass castors. The washstand is fitted with a single drawer with a cupboard above. The cupboard is fitted with a tambour door. The top lifts to reveal fitted and lidded compartments for razors, brushes, beakers etc. The central section is fitted with a removable mahogany tray, that when taken out reveals the aperture for the washbasin and shaving mugs. The inside of the lid is fitted with the original adjustable shaving mirror. The lid is fitted with a key.

The washstand is of superb quality throughout, exhibiting a rich warm colour. The mirror is in excellent condition and the tambour door runs well. There is no damage or repairs and only the odd minor bump, commensurate with age and usage.
