Description
This is a late 18th century (c.1790) Georgian mahogany linen press. The press stands on its original shaped bracket feet, with the lower section being fitted with two short and one long drawer. The upper section is fitted with a pair of panelled doors that open to reveal six pull out trays. The drawers and trays are constructed in good quality mahogany throughout. The cornice is decorated with a narrow band of kingwood, edged with boxwood. The moulding is finished with a dentil top section (this moulding is referred to as dental as it resembles a row of teeth). The drawers are fitted with brass knob handles. These are a later (Victorian) replacement of the swan neck handles that it had originally. A clean and practical piece of furniture, with a few blemishes commensurate with age and usage.
