Georgian Pearlware Willow Pattern Serving Dish / Chestnut Basket Stand c.1800
A nice quality Georgian pearlware chestnut basket stand with pierced and moulded basket weave effect decoration. The cavetto also has a series of tightly ribbed, wavy concentric rings that are very pretty with the pearlware glaze in the grooves. Printed in a vibrant blue and white with a restricted version of the Willow pattern, with very finely patterned borders and a feathered band between the ribbed area and the pieced basketweave arches. A small cross mark to the reverse in blue, Staffordshire c.1800.
Originally made to hold a matching oval basket, this is now a dish of very practical shape and size for use, or lovely on display.
measurements
It measures 26.3cm (10 3/8") by 20.5cm (8 1/8") wide and 2.2cm (7/8") high.
