Globe-Wernicke “Classic” Two-Tier Barrister Bookcase, c.1926–1933
A fine example of the Globe-Wernicke Co. Ltd “Classic” range, made in Birmingham between circa 1926 and 1933. This two-tier sectional bookcase features its original orange Globe-Wernicke “Classic” label (No. 212¼), denoting the later interwar production period of the company’s iconic barrister design.
Constructed in mahogany, the bookcase retains its warm, reddish-brown tone with a gently aged patina. Each glazed section lifts and slides back smoothly, allowing books or collectibles to be displayed dust-free. The piece is completed with its original solid top and plinth base, both showing the refined craftsmanship that made Globe-Wernicke the benchmark for modular office and library furniture.
A timeless and functional antique — perfect for use as a display case, bookcase, or collector’s cabinet in both traditional and modern interiors.
