Description
This is a fine pair of 19th century Japanese Shibayama plaques in beautiful red lacquer oval frames dating from the Meiji period, circa 1870. The plaques are in lovely condition with carved wood, mother of pearl, bone and abalone in the form of pigeons perched on a flowering bower. The red lacquer frames have a lovely deep colour and antique patina and are attractively hand painted with flower decoration. These are in super order and are a good size measuring 55 cms by 42.5 cms overall.
