Gordon Russell Oak Mid Century Twin Pedestal Desk

This one is a super piece of Mid Century antique furniture in well-toned English oak and it goes without saying, fab build and design quality. A desk of sensible proportions and dare we say a lot rarer in oak and one of Russell's best of that era. Copper makers label underneath. Gordon Russell was one of Britain’s great furniture designers and the Gordon Russell Design Museum is worthy of a lengthy visit if you wish to know more about the company and how it shaped furniture post war in Great Britain. It’s a weighty piece with a run of 3 drawers and a cupboard to the other side. The top of solid oak is nicely planed to the edges giving it some real mid-century style, as do those angled legs. As you would expect the desk looks good from all angles so could be placed in a room not just against a wall. The quality, as you would expect, is first rate and this one has enjoyed a session in our workshop to ensure it's ready to place. We have a good tone and well chosen grain to all parts, the solid brass drawer handles are original and good. We have historic light ink stains to the inside of the drawers and one or two historic marks to the top, no splits or deep scratches to the piece.
