Description
This is a lovely mahogany encased English fusee timepiece clock with the more appealing narrower surround to the dial which adds to the overall style of this piece. The case is in excellent condition having a lovely patina with the brass inlaid window in the case allowing the view of the polished original pendulum.
Flanking this window are carved floral 'ears'. The case houses a side door for inspection of the movement and a lower locking case door which fits perfectly. The twelve inch dial is housed by a glazed brass bezel and the dial is in excellent condition. The movement has just enjoyed a full overhaul and comes with my two year guarantee as standard. There are several repairer's marks on the movement of 1857, 1867 and 1881 so whilst it is difficult to determine which Brooke made this clock it can safely be dated to circa 1840. Being of medium size but in excellent condition this piece really will look good in any location.
