A very attractive pair of graduated jugs from Masons Ironstone Pottery, featuring the early and quite rare Bandana Pattern. They have a fabulous chinoiserie style decoration on a rich orange and black ground, with flowers, foliage and Dogs of Fo. The largest size is approx;18.5 cm(h) x 11 cm (w), smaller jug is; 14cm (h) x 8 cm (w). The larger jug has a long hairline crack running from the top rim straight down and to the right of the bottom of the handle, which i have photographed and can be seen more when looking down into the jug. Otherwise there are no other visible chips or cracks. It has the Mason's mark to base. The smaller jug is in good condition with no visible cracks or chip. There are a couple of strange small black marks/stamps, one to the base and one on the body of the jug at the bottom, which almost look like black seals?? They seam to have a pattern imprinted on them? I would guess it may have happened at the time of firing. They both have a little rubbing of the pattern in places, more on the handles and some light surface scratches. Please check the photos. In all, a striking pair for £180 years old!!
