Grandfather Clock by John Wyld

8 day antique clock by John Wyld of Nottingham, with silvered brass dial and housed in an oak case. This well known Nottingham maker was working in Nottingham in the mid 18th Century. Both Son and Father have the same name and both were clock makers. This example is very typical of longcase antique clocks produced in the Nottingham area and would have been an expensive item. The 8 day movement has been serviced and case, dial and movement are all original to each other. The mainly oak case is is in very nice condition. The brass dial is very attractive and chapter ring has bold half hour marks, also both minute and quarter hour bands. The mattered dial centre is nicely engraved and incorporates a mouth calender. Blued steel hands are original to the clock. Quarter cast spandrels are of the earn and eagle pattern.
