Description
An English Georgian twin fusee bracket clock. An elegant mahogany case with a pagoda pediment and the original ball finial. Brass sound fretted side panels with silk backing. A cast brass bezel with convex glass and standing on brass ogee bracket feet. Boxwood string inlays and a recessed front panel. An unusual setting of the bezel key at 10 o'clock position. An arched glass back door. A convex dial with blued steel hands signed 'Green Clifton'. A quality double fusee mechanism striking the hours on a bell of 8-day duration. Circa 1810.
Thomas Green of Bristol is recorded in A J Moores' 'The Clockmakers of Bristol' book as working in Hotwells and Portland Place in Clifton from 1780-1815.
