For your consideration I am delighted to offer this extremely fine example of railwayana history. This English eight day chain-driven fusee wall clock was supplied originally by Kays of Worcester in circa 1870 through a business alliance with Skarrat & Co. and is in extremely good condition and exudes quality in every aspect.
The recently serviced movement has rectangular plates with an anchor escapement and has been fully overhauled so benefits from my three year guarantee.
The mahogany case has fantastic colour and patination since its restoration with a lovely sheen to it. The eight piece segmented wooden surround holds the brass bezel complete with sight ring and the lower door retains its working lock and key. Being a high-quality piece there are two long side doors to the case back box.
The dial is a particular feature of this lovely clock and has the GWR roundel logo which was used during the period 1934 to 1942. The handsome appearance is finished by the original spade hands.
The original GWR ivorine plaque, number 3354, is screwed to the side of the case. GWR Clock records were destroyed in 1984 so it's unlikely further information on the previous locations of this clock will materialise. The clock comes complete with its original butterfly key and highly polished pendulum.
This is a truly stunning and rare clock in gorgeous condition, genuinely there are virtually none around of this style, and it’s one of many fusee clocks I have coming onto the market.
Clockwise specialises in longcase and bracket clocks and with clients from the world of business, film, sport, royalty and aristocracy - yet more than happy with traditional clients - Clockwise has an unrivalled reputation for excellence and superb service.
