Hand Painted Portrait Plate King Louis XVI of France 1754-1793

A superbly painted portrait plate of historical interest portraying King Louis Xvi 1754-1793, the last king of France executed during the French Revolution. The deep plate has a circular cartouche containing the portrait with two outer rings of gold followed by a border of blue with applied gold spots and an outer border of gold motifs and hand painted flowers and leaf emblems all against a pink background. The plate carries no identifying marks but most certainly produced on the continent and dating to around 1880.
