Hugh Wallis Arts and Crafts Copper Display Plate

We have for sale a very attractive Arts and Crafts decorative copper and pewter display plate by the excellent coppersmith Hugh Wallis of Altrincham, Cheshire. This heavy copper circular display plate consists of a lightly planished body extending to a beautifully crafted rim that would at some point have been partially filled with pewter. The planishing of this piece gives the surface of the plate an almost fluidic appearance so that its luminosity varies with the light and viewing angle. This piece carries the impressed Hugh Wallis mark H over W in a square to the inside of the bowl. The bowl probably dates to somewhere around 1910 to around 1920.
