Impeccable 12” English Fusee Dial Timepiece by George Priest 1836

We present for consideration, this impeccable 12’ William Iv Regency period dial fusee wall timepiece, by clock and watchmaker George Priest of 3 Briggs Street, Norwich. Born in Norfolk, 1806, Priest was a regional master clockmaker of note, associated with producing finely hand-crafted and much sought-after timepieces. He passed away in 1863. The clocks narrow turned mahogany roundhead face and oak boxed cabinet has pleasing, aged patination, with a hinged inspection door located on the side of the box and an operable lockable regulator door located at the bottom of the box. The clocks original convex metal dial has black Roman numerals with Priest’s details, finished with its original pair of blued American Spade hands, secured with a pinned collet. The clocks dial is then protected by convex glaze mounted in a lockable brass bezel. The clock benefits from a high quality 8-day single fusee driven movement set between 4mm thick shouldered plates and knopped pillars and comes with its original 75mm diameter brass pendulum bob and a brass fusee winding key. A wonderful timepiece from a well-established clock and watchmaker of his day.
