A four-glass clock (also known as a French crystal regulator) is a highly collectible style of antique mantel clock characterized by a brass, ormolu, or champlevé enamel case with four clear glass panels (front, back, and sides)
Popularized in France during the late 19th century (circa 1870–1910), this design was specifically engineered to showcase the mechanical movement, the escapement, and the ornate pendulum swinging inside.
