Japanese Satsuma Koro Meiji Period Kinkozan (blue)

This is a beautiful Meiji period Japanese Satsuma Koro from the Kinzokan dynasty dating from around 1890. The urn has a cushioned square form, typically decorated with maidens in panels on a blue ground highlighted in gilt. This bears the three-character mark for Kinkozan to the base and is finely detailed as is usual with these pieces. Kinkozan was a celebrated dynasty of Japanese potters and a renowned company based in Kyoto active from 1645 until 1927.
