Description
We have for sale a lovely and very decorative Derby porcelain dessert plate dating from the late Michael Kean Derby period c1808. This very attractive plate is of a plain un-moulded circular shape with a concave flat bottomed bowl and wide gilded rim beautifully decorated with a central bouquet of flowers surrounded by four floral sprigs to the rim. The base of the plate carries the Duesbury mark in Iron red along with the gilders mark 20 in red and the decorators mark 13 in yellow. The plate is illustrated in the book "The Pendock Barry Porcelain Service, a Forensic Evaluation" by Denyer, Denyer and Edwards, Springer Nature, 2023. Isbn: 9783031258121. The plates dates to the late Micheal Kean Derby period as evidenced by the paste, a bone china paste specifically used by Micheal Kean between around 1807-1810 until the Derby factory was taken over by Robert Bloor in 1810/11. The plate is 8.5 inches (22cm) in diameter and is in a very good to excellent condition with only a little bit of wear to the gilt rim at the 5 o'clock position in the first image of the plate.
