Large 18th Century Trio of Dutch Antique Brass Heemskirk Candlesticks

A beautiful large and heavy trio of 18th Century / Late 17th Century Dutch Antique Brass Heemskirk type candlesticks. - The tall (at 10.5 inches), lovely and very robust (at about c.1.38 - 1.4kg per stick) decorative Dutch candlesticks have the characteristic wide mid-stem drip tray and attractive but simple decoration marked to each knopped architectural section, present both above and below the mid-section drip tray.  The shaft features a series of turned balusters or "acornesque" knops. Period-correct stems usually repeat a balanced knop design both above and below the mid-drip pan as shown across all of these sticks. -  The earlier 17th / 18th drip pans are thought to be slightly concave to catch melting wax effectively.  The candle holder is tall and tulipesque shaped, two of the sticks have the pricket hole (designed to help push out tallow candle stumps) and horizontal engraved lines, and one does not but all three are a of a near identical decorative design, proportions and dimensions.   - The base is a heavy, stepped and domed circular foot. By design it provides a low centre of gravity, making the stick(s) practical for moving around or sitting securely on rough / period tables. - The cast brass sections in this design of Dutch candlesticks are held together by a central rod or a pin integrated into the upper stem. This pin runs straight through the drip pan and lower architectural sections, and was "peened" (hammered flat) at the very bottom of the base as shown to the base of these candlesticks with multiple hammering marks both to the pin and around the base.  The undersides of early 17th/18th century bases often have the marks of circular rotation / striations from being finished on a hand-turned lathe (i.e. spun) after the brass casting. - These candlesticks each indicate a significant and reassuring heft relative to their size.
