This is a large and substantial antique sterling silver mustard pot made by William Bateman and hallmarked in London 1820. There is an accompanying solid silver mustard spoon hallmarked in London 1883 and made by Aldwinckle & Slater. It is made with a thick gauge of silver and sits firmly on 4 ball feet. There is banded decoration to the body and gadrooning to the rim. The interior retains its original gilding and the original blue glass liner. The liner and silver mustard pot are in very good condition. A couple of very minor dings to the pot one of which slightly distorts part of the hallmark. Hallmarks are also punched very clearly to the gilded lid. Overall a fine and impressive Georgian silver mustard pot from a member of the famous Bateman silversmith family.
