Description
This is a fine and large Georgian sterling silver tea caddy made by John Emes and hallmarked in London 1803.
It is in very good condition and sits firmly on a raised oval base. There are traces of the original internal gilding and the lid closes firmly with a concealed hinge. John Emes is a well regarded Georgian silversmith and so this is a beautifully made piece of thick gauge silver and decorations to the middle band, lower rim and lid.
Hallmarks are clearly struck. (NB any shadows shown in photographs are merely reflections).
