This is a large antique ornamental planter. An English, heavy enamelled cast iron jardiniere, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1850. Graced with bold form and of generous size, influenced by the exuberance of the Great Exhibition. Displays a desirable aged patina throughout. Enamelled body shows superb weathering with a palette of pink-blue hues. Flared rim meets the striking scrolled arms, branching from two arms into one large mount. Adorned to both faces with bouquets of foliate detail. Stands upon a wide oval base with a quartet of hairy paw feet. Drainage holes to base for immediate planting.
