Large Victorian Silver Box Janet Brownett Alexander Jones London 1878

A large and heavy Victorian sterling silver box by Jane Brownett & Alexander Jones hallmarked for London 1878. Retailed in London. Beautiful engine turning on all sides, the hinged cover opens to reveal a gilt interior. The central cartouche has a crown or coronet engraved. A very good quality piece of silver by excellent silversmiths. In very good antique condition overall, the hallmarks are very good, there are a few dings/dents and surface scratches, gilding faded, usual signs of wear all commensurate of age and use.
