Late 19th Century Silver Plated Multiple Partition Trinket Box, Lined with Hand Dyed Velvet

It is not all the time that an item shouts out to you. Hopefully like me, you will be totally smitten by this lovely late 19th Century silver plate trinket box. Waiting to meet a friend at a general sale on a wintry day this winter, I glanced across the room and saw this alluring item looking grimy and forlorn, amongst a diverse lot with little else to commend it. Later on as the sale progressed I looked up at the screen and realised what potential this little box had and that I must get it. To cut a long story short, back at the workshop we agreed it was a gem and quickly set too; a good bath, a clean and a gentle polish later, and discussion turned to the interior. After several combinations were suggested, we settled on a range of our hand dyed velvets that worked well together and would suit the needs of lots of our clients. Today, complete with a beige velvet pad to the lid and charcoal grey, antique green and a lilac pink velvets applied to the three partitions, I think this modest little box really punches above its weight, offering a great gift idea for a friend, irrespective of their sex.
