Late Victorian antique silver cockerel statue, Hanau c.1900

A magnificent antique Continental 800 silver statue of a cockerel. Marks for Hanau probably made in the late Victorian period around 1900. It is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. As you can see from the pictures the head comes off  which I believe was done to save import duties as this changed the tax category. It has realistic glass eyes and a set of makers marks on the foot. A beautifully large piece of decorative silver which has been cast and the detail hand finished.
